I have a 1969 Sweet Sixteen with the Holman Moody Marine package. How can I tell what outdrive it is, and where can I get manuals for the engine & outdrive?
Thanks

Post up the serial number of the drive and we can probably figure it out. It's on the top just behind where the steering helmut is attached.

The only plate I have found is on the outside of the outdrive, it just says Holman Moody Marine. Where else should I look?
Thanks

It is on a tag on the top of the input shaft bearing carrier just in front of the top cap. It's down in between the upper gear housing and the steering helmut.

Post some pic's too (outdrive & boat). A visual should determine which Volvo drive you have.

Manuals should be easy to come by once you know what outdrive you have. Engine most likely Ford 302...

Check part# 31 in the link below, that is the tag you are looking for.

200's and 250's are about identical. The 270 is noticeably different.
Rough guess...Eaton's early, 200's in '67, 250's in '68 & '69, then 270's for a while? Like I said, a very rough guess, kind of give or take by a couple years!

the 200 case is a little slimmer than the 250 and 270 all of which had the same type exhaust port torque tab and the same anit cavitation plate the 280 and 290 had the exhaust port built into the anti cavitation plate. the 250 and 270 were almost identical and for the most part interchangeable
Holman Moody only used 250s and 270s as they were not in the marine business when the 200 came out or the 280 290
the 200 looked similar but had some differences in the reverse lock and transom shield

First thanks so much for the input on where the serial numbers should be. I found the spot, but the plate is long gone. I have attached photo's of the drive. So what is the concensus 250 or 270?
Next question, can I put on a power tilt unit, and if so where is the best place to find one.

A 250 with a 200 shift cover. The original cover for a 250 would have the raised edge like the top and intermediate housing.

You would need to replace your transom shield to install power trim. They show up on ebay every now and then if they are in good shape, they are expensive. It's a big job.
