:that time of the year again

boats are put away and under construction

waiting patiently for the water to be stiff enough to drive on :bonk:

construction of the new ice hut (for fishing) is underway for the new year

open invite to whomever might like to make the journey to Canada and see how we do it

the picture is from the one side of the garage looking at the skeleton framework

floor goes on thursday and the walls and roof should go on next weekend

the second one is the main entrance where there will be a platform to step onto before you step onto the ice (less slipage)

Looks sweet Shea, sure beats the old 6x4 shipping crate ... :D
We may have to make the roadie up to BellVegas for some fishing, any chance we could rustle up a card game at night .... :D

the posters in the garage are for the tournaments
wed night is regular poker night at my place in the garage
our big ice party is the valentines party the second week of february (based on ice conditions obviously)
:bonk:
this picture is the set up for the party
the tarps are to stop the wind
the christmas lights are for light once it gets dark
we burnt the 2 shacks last year (getting old and rotten)and are building the one to replace them

Enjoy you new ice digs, looks like a better plan! I see the infamous Shea hat is ever present, and I see another familiar face in the crowd. Look forward to seeing you all when it warms a bit!

No doubt you'll be sure to pull it off well before spring thaw.
Hate to lose that beauty to the bottom of the lake!

Sweet looking sound system...is the fishing better when you play certain types of music?

Living here for 46 years, where the h e l l do you find "ice" that you can stand on?

Obviously I do not live in your parts :D

it needs a truck to pull it out there :bonk:

We like to wait until there is at least 10-12 solid inches of ice with a weather report that doesn't have alot of warm sections in it and just go for it

keep the windows down in the truck while you are driving out and don't put your seat belt on :)

Lenny, it's -21 here this morning. Finding ice that you can stand on won't be a problem in a couple of days .... :D

Shea, you need to call these guys in Rockport, it would solve your towing problem....

The whole time i was reading this thread and looking at the pictures i couldn't help but think of the movie Grumpy Old Men, and then the last pictures of the new hut with the tow vehicle confirmed it.

that is awsome. it looks like you put some serious time and money into it. i want to see some pic's of it in action. are there any rental units up there that some Ohio boys could rent for a weekend? i'm not that big into fishing but i would love to say that i've done that.

look forward to seeing you at the AOTH
