Hi,
First: My english ist not the best
I am Digger from Germany :germany:,
I buy in Feb. this jear an 2001 ZX 26 with damaged 502 Engine and without Drive in Florida.
Now is the Boat in Top condition with new Bolsters and interieur.
We insalled an 496 HO and an Bravo one Drive 1:50 Ratio.
Pictures: http://www.offshoreonly.de/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2721&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
The Problem:
We are searching for the right Prop for this boat.
We testet an 27 3 blade prop = 55 mph / 5000 RPM with GPS (To slow)
We testet an Bravo 3 with 26 Prop Set = 62 mph / 5000 RPM but we could not trim up the Z Drive. If we trim up we had only "white wather" It was an very bad idea.
Is here an 26ZX Owner hou can tell me what is the right prop?:idea:
Greetings from Germany

Either a labbed Bravo I 26 or stock 24. I would start with the 24.

The X is too high to like a 3 blade and I don't see how it would like a Bravo III. Those III's have a nice cruise but less effecient at higher speeds.

You should be around 66 mph or maybe a little more in salt water.

Yep.. Bill is right Start with a 24p Bravo 1 prop & if you are set up right & depending on how your bottom is & where your x dimension is you may be able to run a 26 Bravo 1...

The step bottom Zx's dont like 3 blades much on a single engine appplication.. Even a lot of twins ended up with 4 blades.. Some 5 blades can work ok to depending on what you are doing & where your x dim & power level is.. :) Jamie / Lakeside

Thanks Bill and Jamie

The next step is searching for an 24 and 26 4 Blade Prop
Are this the right one?
48-831914A55 26 x 15 1/4
48-831912A55 24 x 15 1/4

Those would be the right ones -

There are other suppliers out there. This was just a quick search.

Maybe due to the declining $ you can get a better Euro cost?

Hi,

For more speed, is it expedient to install an extension box on this boat an when yes which difference of level is the right one?
(the x dimension is seriel very high at this Hull)

I want a fast boat.

Sometimes they help, however You may want to try a drive spacer at about 1.5" to 2".. I am having to do this with mine because the X dimension is wayyyy to high on mine with 2 steps & a notched transom for the power I have.. Good luck on your project & keep us posted.. :) Jamie / Lakeside

Is there a big diffrence between older (2001) without notched transom and new hulls whith notched transom???

I have been in many zx's, I can say that in my opinion there is a difference. They are a bit more sensitive to getting enough water to the prop especially with higher hp.. That is an issue that I am currently dealing with on mine at this time. :) Jamie

Hi Donzi`s,

Our 26zx is now ready.
With a standard Bravo Prop 26, we are at
114 km/h = 62 knot = 69 miles
The last parts in our stock is an CMI Exhaust.

it must only be mounted

But one question I have:
Has anyone ever been this boat with an extension box rebuilt?

With a neutral box or lift?

And how is the result?
Remodeling is the sense?

Thanks for many answers

You are in the money on the speed. So far I think that it is best to stay away from the box on a 26ZX. I talked to a guy in England that had fits with his. It made him go slower and caused some handling issues.

Let's see some engine pics of that bad boy!

respekt !!!

Are there any pictures of it here somewhere?
What transmisson you use?
How fast is the boat?

There are some pics on the site. Do a search under 540 Fun. Let me know if you don't find it. I can't post twice but I can amail you pics. I love to talk about 26ZX's.

I use a Merc XR with IMCO lower. I am trying a new rubber hub that is supposed to reduce shock (Thanks to Big Grizzly). The 850 is way too much for the drive so I have to be careful.

So far the boat has been to 95mph. We are playing around with props but it was still accelerating hard. The ride can get wild above 85 mph. It cruises easily at 60mph.

Hey Digger,

Can you get me some more picture of your engine hatch lift setup? I am changing mine around because of my intercooler and was considering doing something like yours.

We had the same problem.
Original engine was a center.
The Aircleaner was in the Way
Therefore the solution with 2 engines.
Unfortunately, the cost in Germany is an asset
Therefore, I am searching for another solution around.
Found I then used the engines of hospital beds with 24-volt motors.
A Unformer now brings the necessary 24 volts

My friend Ahmet built the necessary adapter in stainless steel

Your friend Ahmet is the man:germany::thumbsup:

I have found a system that has 2 rams driven by a single trim pump. It will be expensive but will pop it right up. I am thinking that my builder Eddie should be able to pull that off. Those pics help because I will mount the rams in a similar fashion.

.........

Oh yes he is it.
This is another part he built for me:

The problem for standart parts is the 19% German tax and the costs for shipping.
So we build standart parts themselves.

Another problen at this time is my car.
It is a to smal for the boat.
Boat with trailor 3.6 Tons = 7900 lb
I can only pull 7200 lb

In the last summer vacation, we were in Spain.
1100 Miles one Way
If the police would have caught us.
Then we would have hundrets of Dollars penalty to pay

Now i am looking for a Dodge Ram Pick Up

It was a great Time in Spain.

First Pic my car
Next Pics in Spain, Mediterranean Sea:wink:

Nice set up. Now I agree with the stand of box, do not do it. As for prop selection, you can get away with a 3 blade prop but only some will work, most are not nice in the planing area. If the prop you have has vent holes plug them it will help the plane issue.
