Tom, Your small block is almost 5mph faster than his big block. thats pretty impressive. I wonder if your's being an Alpha and His A Bravo is the speed diff. I think you have another small Block that will get you a few More MPH if needed.:smash:

No question the Alpha is faster then the Bravo Ted (Mr X) says about 2MPH faster, I also think that Toms SB has been massaged a little. My comparison is mine and another 22 both had the 300HP Tempests with an Alpha, with all things setup right both ran a little over 61 GPS. I replaced the Tempest with a 383 and and replaced the Alpha with a Bravo, I now on a good day make 65.5. The 383 has more Balz then the 350 in all respects that is waht makes me think Toms is stronger then stock.

This one has the stainless exhaust and vortec heads and runs extremely well. Everone that hears it with the stainless exhaust thinks, big block. Definitely the boys I beat at the Classic Boat Races thought big block. ha ha I have not had the gps with me for a good straight out run but I think she will top out at 66 gps with right conditions. I of course want 70. In a small block, that would be neat. The last owner said it would do 65 gps but you never know. Happy but could be a smidge happier. Lets talk about what we could do. I am planning on bringing it to Cumberland. Come get it, Please! Swap you it for a sanded triple hatch. ha ha

I really think the weight of the small block, helped with the turns at the races. That thing would come in so close to the buoys that I was scared a few times that I would pick up an anchor line be dragging a 6 foot bouy around the course at 64.5 mph. ha ha Tom

Why don't we bring the Bad Boy and the 22 back and swap the motors. Then there won't be any other mods needed, You'll be happy, He'll be happy, everybody will be happy.(you the most though) I Know he wanted loud and Bad azz, but I don't know if he wanted that loud and Bad Azz... was that a custom hatch you made to fit over the Exhaust???? Looks pretty cool.

You are right, it would be nice. He wanted as loud as possible and we know what that is! hmmm? I used to think I wanted loud until Quiet Please, now I want kinda loud. ha ha He won't let me swap them but you are right, then it would probably go 78 mph and I would be wanting 80 again. ha ha Remember now Mike, just 70, well 75 would be ok but you go over 75 and I am going to start looking up again and it will cost too much to get 80.
The hatch is a piece of masterful workmanship. Took the hatch that was there and took the scoop off and opened the whole to include the pipes and then built a nice smooth rise for around 3 inches. It looks like a big square but you can barely see it. The interior of the hatch has places for a perfect fit for the flame arrester and the chrome pipes. I meant to get a good pic for you and David. It is soo nice. Definitely a sleeper for any unassuming passerby. Till you fire the beast up that is. Bout broke my heart not to have it for the classic Races. But I would have been too tempted to run it. She is nice, for sure. I am looking forwad to seeing you drive it at Cumberland. I think he will welcome another driving lesson or two. Cannot wait!!!!!!! Rented a truck for the event so I can bring the 22 up. Tom

Next time you run into Corretti mention Geo's SB 18 going up around 120! He will in his way tell you that you are full of it. When I first retired I worked at Light House, he would drop in for some basic stuff. I complemented him on his engines and brought up Geo! Wrong move got quite salty, no SB 18 could possibly do that. I was afraid to bring up Ed Donnelly's 16 that hit 100, I think he would have popped his cork!

Joe is now making 707ci naturally aspirated bored and stroked big blocks with forged internals that put out 900 hp on 93 octane pump gas. Makes me go hmmm....
By my back of the envelope calculations, that would get my boat to 93

I remember Crazy George's 18 with 1000HP supercharged small block and surface drive. He showed me his GPS after a couple pass at the CT River run probably 10-12 years ago. I recall once 109mph and another 115mph. I also remember Geo ripping past a 30' super boat at well over 80 in 3ft seas on the way to Claudio's in Greenport LI. Not me, no way, never...

My Boat:
Best of 75.3mph on GPS @ 5200rpm running solo, low gas, with the wind and probably the tide too.
Stock 502/435hp Carb engine, Gil exhaust, B1 Drive, 25p Rev 4 prop...
