Forrester.
How do you get so much out ot your boat. My 1976 model like yours is heavier than the new stuff.

At 4200RPM I can get about 47 GPS. if I push it to 4500 I cna get 52gps.

I assume the 351 is about 260HP its fresh and the out drive is in good condition.

the specs for ford 351 and 302 say 4200 is max rpm, what allow you to exceed this.

PS do you have trim tabs and do you feel they are worth it.

thanks

thanks.

Matty boy tell me what I'm doing wrong

have 76 ski16 with 351 at 4200rpm is goes 47mph gps. 42000 is the spec on the motor.

does the extra 800rpm make the differance. I assme I'm at 260HP.

do you have trip tabs?

Thanks Chappy and Hedgehog. I really want to know what it will do down at sea level one day. With altitude, I lose 71 hp off that 340. Puts me at 270. One day I am going to make AOTH and see what she will do. What is the elevation at AOTH?

Definetly think I would need a 21 pitch.

Lake Cumberland elev. is around 700' or thereabouts. Depending on the water depth on any given day.

Was not as dramatic as it looks, and the landing was really pretty smooth.
I have experienced a more bone jarring hit going over some small boat wakes. The picture was taken with a digital movie camera by my son, from the back of Last Tango's Donzi Daytona 3250 on the St. Johns river near Palatka, Fl.

1967 Ski Sporter...(Jerry Eisele's blue 16..)

397 HP..
302 reconfigured (translation=built up..) to 347CID racing engine.
Roughly around 300 Propshaft HP figuring a 50 HP loss going thru the Volvo drive unit.
The Volvo drive is, I believe a 250 bottom and a 280 top.
23 Solas prop provided by Big Grizz.

According to a radar gun provided by the Cicero police dept. she'll run 62MPH at 4700-4800RPM.
That is not wide open..I am afraid to max it out for fear of the drive blowing apart, which it did during the initial test run.
Grizz thinks it'll hit 70 full-out according to his calculations at 5500 RPM which it is capable of with one person.

Here in NH we NEVER go over 45mph
I'm too nervous to try :)
Some day I would like maybe

Hell with that over run these suckers w/trim tabs like we did not pay form them!!!

Without a doubt my very favorite boat :)
Always wanted boats that one can not run WOT all day every day!
1995 Stock 4.3 LX @5000 23p? and try to get by:eek!:

Got to re-post with changes-

1997 16
355 CID
377 dynoed hp
Alpha 1.65 gears
Turbo 20 pitch
60 mph GPS@5100 rpm's
Account for 21% power loss due to running at 7000ft.
Sea level run-? I would think close to 70
