View Full Version : Minx stripe

I've got an idea to do some graphics for my new deck/garage reno
in Toronto.

I want to run a 'stripe' both on the garage wall and on the deck
walls.

What could be better than to make it the same width as the Minx stripe?

Mine's in storage, far far away. Can anyone tell me the width of the
deck stripe? Measurement inside or outside of pin stripe please & thanks.

Whatsa Matta Sonny is it to cold for you to drag out you tape or is it froze in your tool box, I know GC will come in with kinder words and you will forget mine by next time I see you LOL!!!

He might. George has a much better memory than I do.
But there's gotta be someone on here with a Minx in the driveway or
garage who can offer up the measurement rather than relying on memory.

If any anal Donzi owners drop by after I'm done, I want them to be able
to get out their calipers and confirm the craftmanship involved.

Mine is in the driveway... I'll try to get a measurement when I get home. I'll do it through the freezing cold too, it's a blistering 65 degrees here today. I even had to put on longer shorts:wink:

My Minx is out in the garage. I just measured the stripe. It's 11 5/8 inches wide. Add a quarter inch to EACH side of that for the "pinstripe". Total= 12 1/8.

Phil

Aaaah! I feel redeemed!!!

I appreciate your looking at this for me. I'll show you what I'm up to
in a week or two. Gonna be fun.

The pin stripes hide and gelcote "hairs" that occur when they pull up the tape when doing the stripe in the mold. Carefully, there usually are none or are so small that a light buffing will cut through them to a good line.

Mine (though not Minx's) are 12".

with what little information she has. This is not a case
of 'mission impossible'. I shall may it possible.

I've decided to accept my mission and not risk any cardiac
malfunctions in limiting her knowledge of the project to:
"Oh look, here is a new product we can print on. Verolite -
they make greenhouses out of it; it's Lexan, 200x more
impact resistant than glass - I'm gonna try it"

What I didn't add was:
"How'd you like a regulation Donzi size stripe, complete
with pinstripes running horizontal around that new deck
rail (50') we are installing on two sides of the house?"

....and I absolutely didn't mention:
"That would look good with the matching stripe I'm putting
around the inside perimeter of the new garage."

This stuff shouldn't be up for debate, but some of you guys know Cindy.
I need to protect my mancard very, very carefully here.

This thread probably doesn't belong in the Performance section,
but I knew I'd get the measurement here - thanks again.

George can relax now, he can purge his memory of another useless fact.

So here's the stage, sort of. There will be a rail around the deck on
two sides of the house - that's where clear panels with the stripe will go.

Garage is coming along nice too, but I have to get some heat in there soon.

Wouldn't want anyone dropping over expecting to smoke and drink martinis
and not be comfortable. I'm talking to you Phil.

Pictures are not great, taken at sunrise. I've got a day job y'know.

Tim, I am glad to see that you have a hip roof on the garage. It will be alot easier for Cindy to paint.

I've got nobody to send a bill to for this job, but here it is printing.

I get 3 - 48x32 out of each 48x96 sheet. Each 48x32 has the stripe
across the panel. Should look like a continuous strip down two sides
of the house on the deck railing.

Stripe size is exact 11.875 + .25 pinstripes either side.

Ed the "Boiler Man".....from someone who only thinks in terms of reverse cycle air conditioning, I keep thinking of something that generates steam for power generation..you know, ships, electrical power generation, old locomotives.....I have to remind myself that some people actually heat their homes with the stuff.

Lenny, I remember you posting some images a couple of years back, about
what you'd done around your place. Let's see 'em again. I need more
inspiration. I know I can go a couple of steps further.
