I found this item on ebay and was wondering if anyone out there is using them?
Apperently they save considerable weight, any thoughts? Reducing weight off the stern (equals) higher top speed?

You will lighten the azz end but will see little if any increase in power/speed, the design is basically stock no improvement in flow. Decent headers will help more, winter is coming and so are the Ebay deals. SB stuff turns up pretty regular and fairly cheap.

Ebay price is also not that great, I can get better pricing on new manifolds.

My experience was very favorable. I installed the GLM manifolds (appear to be the same as in this auction). Between the manifolds and eliminating my 2nd battery, I saved +/- 120#.

This equated to better handling (less weight on the stern) and a 2 mph increase (GPS) in top speed.

An added benefit ----- removing the manifolds to change plugs, parts, or in my case, the battery, is a snap. Hold the manifold with one hand while holding the wrench in the other. Only someone who has R&R'd the cast iron stockers can fully appreciated this benefit.

The aluminum GLM's are awesome! I run them on my 454. Exhaust runners built inside of the manifold (I use 4" SS risers). Weigh 19lbs to the Osco's 41lb's each. And the cost is stupid low.
I've had the $2200.00 manifolds and unless I can get them for the same money as the GLM's I'll use these and keep the other $1800 in my pocket.

Hey F inscreename

Could you post or email me some pics of your set-up. Did you get any increase in speed, power, or sound?

Thanks

Thats exactly the set up I've decided I'm going to be purchasing. I looked into buying the Stainless Marine, Dana, EMI, Revolution Marine, etc. And they were all just too expensive. I dont really need to increase performance, I just want to replace the original old manifolds and risers from '00. And I'd like a little more bark. I think removing the baffles in the tips will take care of the exhaust tone. The risers will last forever, but how long will alluminum manifolds last with only freshwater use and only a couple saltwater days each season? Will they corrod eventually?

I have a friend that's been running a set a edelbrock aluminum for 20+ years in the upper bay. Just a 2 minute flush when home and he's been set. These are thicker and heaver. Not that I plan on running mine that long but two thousand teen something comes to mind when I think of replacement. Also to drop 40lbs from the boat for less the $200 (the price difference between a set of cast iron and aluminum) is the cheapest upgrade I have ever made. I basically get to haul around another 10 gallons of gas for free for the weight difference.

-------I am going to run two sets of GLMs on the Spitfire. I just dont need that extra 10/15 horsies per side enough to spend an extra $2500/3000 (remember its twice as much with 2) as Stainless (as much as I would like to run them). I may, however, spend just a bit more and run stainless risers.......Hey!!!!!! They look COOL.........Bill S

Is this a polished stainless riser? I did not see one on their website.

Not polished but risers are SS.
