i kissed 80 today!!! i know it's the first time, and it might not ever happen again, but it shows that it is indeed capable of hitting 80. it was warmer today, which might have slowed me down...LOL!!! the gps speedo said so. i was at 5200 rpm's as well, at least that's what the gauge said. might need to reprop for next year. if i went to a four blade and labbed it, would i still be able to turn around 5050 rpm's??? how much does the four-blade slow you down??? i have heard so much from you guys re: better overall performance from the 4-blade, i would love to try it out.

Nice...finally did it!
It was gorgeous today. Drove by the beach on my lunch break wishing I could have been out in the boat.

If you think you'll be going out again this year, give me a call and you can try my Hydro Q4. My boat time is done for the year. I'm usually working out your way, so I could probably even drop it off.

It's a 27. You might not be able to spin it as fast as you'd like, but it'll still give you a good idea on how they handle. I'll take it off and keep it in my truck and try and schedule some work out in NVan.
I have no trim tab controls at the moment, so the boat is down until next spring. It was killing me the weekend you went out. I would have been out for sure. Watched the videos. Made me even more upset my boat is down.

In my experience you usually loose about 200 RPM when switching from a 3 to 4-blade prop with the same pitch, sometimes a little more. I was spinning my 25P easily to 5300 at PK, when I tried farmerTX's 29P Hydro I went to 4700-4800 which is about right when you do the math; a 29P Mirage would have probably dropped my to 4900, minus 200 for the 4-blade = 4700 RPM. Seems like they usually slow you down a few MPH also. I haven't had much luck with the Hydro's on my boat, but then I haven't had a chance to try one with the right pitch, always too big or too small.

My 18 did about the same when switching from a 19P Quicksilver to a 19P Rev-4. I seem to remember it dropped a little more then 200 RPM, but this was probably due to the thin blades and small dia. of the Quicksilver vs the heavy thick blade Rev-4.

Looks good Steve. I think we need to come up there next summer.
