What type of grease should I use on the grease fitting on my Bravo I? Does merc make their own? How many fittings are there? I'm gonna pump em full of fresh grease before I store it for the winter.

You will get a few opinions, me being an old boat mech use trailer wheel bearing grease. You are lucky to have fittings, Merc in their infinite wisdom removed all but the gimble fitting on the late drives.

I use the boat trailer wheel bearing grease for everything including my truck and car. partialy because I am lazy and dont want to change out messy 1/2 tubes of grease or have 10 different grease guns. Plus I figure it cant hurt it if it withstands going under water it should hold up even better under normal applications.

I use Mobil 1 Grease on everything. I can't say if it helps or not, but I've never had any trouble using it. The down side is it is a butt ugly pink color.

I use Mercury Marine's 2-4-C on everything I own (wheel bearings, U-joints, Gimbal bearings, squeaky door hinges, you name it).
