Isn't there some type of "breathable" oil reservior cap for the 'ol Merc. trim pump? Every time I go out there's a film of trim pump oil all over the area in the bilge where the trim pump is mounted. I remember reading something on OSO about a replacement cap. Is this a known issue with these things?

The oily film catches the burnt off paint chips that flake off the bottom of the risers... :bonk:

I can't remember the guys name from Oso, but owns a Formula, and lives in Cali. It might come to me any time. He sells the leak proof caps.

If you have the plastic resevior style check to make sure it is tight on the pump. The molded platic "nipple" on mine broke allowing it to rotate on the pump loosening the bolt that holds it to the pump. Ordered a new resevior, installed...and no more mess!!
