DONZI Z-25 1987 with 454 MAG Chevy engine

Fellow members,

Just bought my first Donzi (above), Very clean with 10 hrs on new engine which replaced the original Mercruiser 300. This checy replacement engines are built w/o water pump, flywheel, or manifold intake. Given this, what do I need to watch out for. I am new at this, so please keep technical language gentle.

Am I to understand that you have an automobile engine in your boat? Is it a bobtail engine? If so, and you intend to use it in the salt water, you might wish to reconsider that.
