just got my 1967 28 sportsman home . what a beast she has twin 454s with V drives for a 40 year old boat she is in very good shape cabin is very spacious with 4 v bunks and galley and head area . question is what fuel consumption can i expect with the 454s as i need to rig the boat to make 300 mile round trips to the tortugas i am sure she will ride like a pro just like my 24 elpescador. cant wait to get her in the water . so any one out there with a running 28 sports would love to here from you .

I think you have a pretty rare boat. I have not seen any pop up here and the only picture of one I have seen is in the model listing section. Post some pics of yours if you can.

Well, I'll take a stab at it. I've never run that boat, but I've run 350 hp 454 V-drives in plenty of boats that were bigger/heavier. I run that package in my 32 Carver for example.

I'd estimate you'd burn about 20-25 gph combined at 3000 rpm. What speed you'd see from that RPM I don't know. I know my 32 sees about 20 knots in modest conditions at 3K, but it's a much heavier rig.

If you really want to know, vist the flowscan guys and find out for yourself. It's not a very difficult installation, and well worth it if you'll be running off-shore a lot.

Performance wise , might it not be very similar to Buizilla's delicious Cary 28 ?
