I pulled the 350 chevy out of my Donzi to have it rebuilt. I'm wondering if I need to remove the Merc outdrive and use the alignment rod when the engine is replaced or can I leave and guide the splined shaft into the engine. I am replacing the forward motor mounts so there will be some discepancy, I'm sure. Thanks in advance for your info., ethyl.

Madpoodle, thanks for the reply . I was hoping for a different one but knew this was wishful thinking. ethyl
Besides the drive pull the bell housing, put the engine back in one piece. It will make the alignment job go much better, I too am surprised you got it out had to be some extra:cussball:'s!!! assuming it is an Alpha do a pump job while the drive is off, cheap insurance with a new engine.
