I should change my name now that I’m the proud new owner of the Chili 18. Scared the hell out of me buying something this expensive, 1,500 miles away on eBay. But now that I have her, no regrets. Having seen her on the forum gave me some comfort. The prior owner was great to work with and did an outstanding job with the restoration. I get a lot of compliments at the local reservoir here in Utah and I am planning on Lake Powell and Tahoe next summer. Now the bad part. This damn 3% hp loss/1,000 feet sucks. A blower is a bit pricy (unless someone wants to sell one cheap) so I’m thinking a Comp Cams 270HR with a good set of heads will get me where I want to be. In the mean time, I’m going to try a 21p prop to get my RPM’s back up (down to 3,500 now with a 27p). I’m looking forward to gleaning much information from the forum.

Then there is always Lenny's 350 MAG "CHEAP" EFI system at $500 bucks... :D

needadonzi, where are you in Utah?

I'm in Flagstaff and spend all summer on Powell.

I used to run a 21P Mirage+ on my 270HP 18C at Powell (3600ft) and could bump 60-MPH. You should pick up 100-200 RPM's with every inch of prop pitch reduction, depending on the prop style.

Keep in touch. We're almost done with Powell this year but we'll be back next year. Keep an eye on the events section.

I''m in SLC. I ran a Vensura 21P today at about 5500 feet. Ran straight up 60 on the speedo at 4800 RPM with 4 adults, 3/4 gas and a full cooler...perfect. I walked a way from what looked like a 22 Halett.

Needadonzi,
No reason to change your name. You still have a "need" for a DOnzi. The fact that you now own one is only putting a second helping on that "need."
Every last one of us on this board has a Donzi need.
