Went out for a ride tonight in the Orange Whip from Michigan City, to New Buffalo for a bite to eat and a beer. It was one of those nights. A one percenter for sure. After leaving the stray dog, and going back to the boat, I hear honk honk and see a guy towing a 16'! He pulls in and looks like he wants to talk DONZI with me. Then I realize that I know this guy! His dad was right behind him pulling HIS 16'! They were both just beautiful and it was great seeing them again. I wish we could have met up on the water but it still made my day. Anyone recognize these two criminals!?!? :hyper::propeller:

We toured their toy barn and got a look at their 16's when we picked up the Scorpion boat. What you don't see here are the two sweet fishing rigs, Donzi and Grady. Ah yes, the charmed life. Rumor has it, these two are going to show for AOTH next year for the first time. I promise Bill, no logs.

Great evening for us in the Scorp, couldn't have been better.

Wow! Seeing one of those boats would be a treat. Seeing two together would be amazing.....If I ever saw three that clean at the same time, I would check the local water for hallucinogens!!

Awesome job Bill and Jason.

How cool of Pipnit to take and post the shots above.

We met him on the Lake a few years ago when Jason and I both had our 18's. This was before we sold them to Brad Hicks and Roadtrip, respectively.
The 16's were under restoration in those days.
We lost touch, and ran into him, as he said, by fluke as we were starting back to Indy from New Buffalo.
Too bad he didn't include the Orange Whip in these shots..That's a real cool Donzi with a TRS Drive.

Thanks all for the comments..The boats are as much fun as they look, and we still want to meet up with you all if there ever is a weekday gathering that can be organized.
Once again kudos to Randy Crum of Saugatuck for making these boats into what they are.

Is that Built-Rite interior?.........looks perfect.

Yes..
One of the neatest things about the whole restoration process was that the interiors were one of Bilt-Rite's last jobs before they stopped operations, changed hands, or whatever happened.
They commented on the boats when we put them up on the site here when they were completed.
Glad you like them..Our goal was to make them like they were back in the day.

One more thing..

One of our biggest hurdles was propping them..Big Grizzly came to the rescue, and, after learning the specs of the engines, told us the wheels we needed over the phone. He nailed it perfectly, and without him, we might STILL be looking for the right combo..

Man.....it bums me out that Built-Rite is no longer..........I want to redo the interior in my Magnum and I'm afraid it won't look right..........:frown:

Superhatz;
I can't give you accurate info on this, but I HEARD they changed hands and still have the business operational.
Maybe someone on here can verify this..
