Nice boat.

Kirby's '78 is left hand drive, were they making both left and right side helm at nearly the same time depending upon engine/drive?

Mid to late 70's were a mix of Volvo and Merc TRS drives. Volvo's were typically port helm and Mercs were typically Starboard helm. Alot of the TRS X-18's also had little scoops over the risers on the engine hatch cover, but not all of them????? I always wondered why some had higher risers than others???? Looking at one of the photo's toward the stern you can see cut outs under the lip of the rear deck where the risers were originally located. This is a very nice looking X-18, but I wonder what the engine hatch cover looks like?? It looks like the flame arrestor sticks up higher than the cover.

Engine hatch pins appear to be missing and there look to be major cut-outs for exhaust in that area. ???

How does he keep the hatch on?

DMR181520477X

DMR 18 footer, 152nd boat produced as an "X" April, 1977 "X"

Only 24 or so made after her...

I looked at a couple TRS drive X's that had the cut outs on the lip of the deck, little scoops over the risers and opened from the side. This one doesn't look like there are any hinges on it. There's some wear marks just behind the cut out sections on the rear deck that I bet were from the riser scoops. Tuxedo Park had one like that. Like Lenny said, how's he keep the engine cover on.

WOW, at $10K already and 4 days to go, and the RESERVE NOT MET, it seems to be a tad high.

Just my opinion, but for 12 you could get a much later model 18, and all the bells and whistles, and as a side note. The one I was #2 in line for a few years back, THE BROCHURE X-18 boat with every #od Damn Original piece, bill of sale, paddle, brochure, owners manual etc, gel, you name it, (I still have it saved) sold for 10-ish K to DonziTester ;)

Why, would anyone in their right mind, drive the price up 4 days before closing??? :bonk:

??? hmmmmmm

Personally, I can't justify that kind of money for a 30 year old boat, sight unseen, on a roller trailer, unknown deck and gas tank condition, stringers etc...

Just my opinion.

THE ONLY REASON I AM COMMENTING ON THIS IS IT WAS INTRODUCED AS AN EBAY LINK AND NOT BY A MEMBER OF THIS BOARD :)

Over the last few years the prices seem to have gone up, not down. It's tough to find any Donzi for 10k these days.

I would take a stab in the dark and say he doesn't use the engine hatch cover and took it off when all of the motor work was done and to use the cover you would have to change the layout of the intake

My 76 18' 2+3 has cut outs on the hatch like you guys are talking about. The exhaust logs with the smallblock and trs have elbows which go up pretty high. I have black Mercruiser logs, not stainless like the boats on the ebay auction.

A pic of what looks like my boat sinking
