What kind of horsepower is a ZX22 with a scorpion 377 going to push?
I've had to re-direct my purchase power towards a ZX model since the boss shut down my vision of a classic22. All my research has been geared towards the classic, so i'm wondering the "right" setup for this model.

Good years...or year models to avoid on this one?

Help.....Opinions...Thanks....

if this is the Lake Cumberland boat, it's a pretty cool boat, I believe the 377 REQUIRES premium fuel, which could be an every weekend detriment.. it's been for sale for a LONG time with the original owner, and then LCM, not sure why....

with that package i would expect it to go mid 60's..65-68 mph..no hydrolic steering but it has a hp gimble housing,,

mph is going to be a shot in the dark. prop is going to determine alot too.
377 scorp is pushing 350 horses....i would say 65 is the top end. TOP end...
24 pitch prop.....i dunno. like i said, it was a total guess. i think 60-61 would be closer.

You won't find find a 496 in a 22ZX. Some of the earlier years had 454s and maybe a few had a 502. the 350 is the most common package with an Alpha. If I were to buy one I would look for one with the 454/502 and a Bravo drive.

454 - 385 HP
502 - 415 HP

Speeds on this should be around 70+

that is a very nice boat, we did see a 496 ho 22zx but was a re-power as red dog said the 454 or 502 boats are more common and the speed estimates are correct.
the 22 classic has it's own learning curve, the 22 zx has a totally different curve when it is a step hull. believe the seats were an issue on certain models and bolsters might be a nice upgrade

i agree with red dog. (this boat is a big block boat) i dont know about any 496, but they did make several with a 502. the only problem is,,you will pay big money because everybody wants that set up, and they are rare.
the 377 scopion is an interesting alt. though.
