Don Mugford (Muggs on the board) has a prop issue.

He was dragging me and Minxguy off a sandbar on the
Severn River much to the delight of Fred (fclarke) when
he lost his fwd/reverse. We towed him home, only was
a couple of hundred yards. Figured it was a cable issue.

NOT - he lost his prop. That was the S/S one we gave
him for his 50th birthday - many -about 150- moons ago.

He has a '72 18' 302 Holman Moody with a 280 volvo outdrive.
He was running a LH 14 - 23 and revving 55-5600, which
is a little too high.

Question is what does he need and where does he get it?
He really likes his S/S - can he get one somewhere?

Check out this thread, all about Solas props on older Volvo drives. I'm running a 21" solas on a 280 drive with a pretty much stock SBC at 5100 rpm max. Big Grizzly (Randy) is the one to talk too about props, especially for the older volvo drives.

If I had a picture of the prop lying at the bottom of the Severn River -
I'd post it. LOL

But, here's his rig taken at 1K Isles. BTW, Cindy is in the boat with Don
while Problemchild and his cousin are dockside.

Too funny George. You'd think he was 'smokin' rope
after all my Bailey's Irish Cream he knocked off.

Seriously, thanks all for the help. I know he's going to
appreciate it.

I see Cinder went to calm him down a bit!

Au contrare my friend. Your memory fails.
All she ever does is wind everybody up.

She's a social animal.
(That's a good thing)

Here is another one 1K event, this year. Notice the body language of the couple talking on the dock.
Oh, Don is in the red hat.

In defense of Tim, he did not drive onto the sand bar, we drifted into more like real deep muck and because Don "lost the cable" we had to push out with paddles. Oh and Fred, we won't say anything about you almost launching with out a transom plug
All in all it was a fantanstic day of boating, not to mention the excellent pork loin dinner perpared by Don. Thanks again.

Yes. If we got any closer, she'd take me down.

Don't show her this; bad for her self esteem. One of
the few moments she doesn't appear to be in control.
