intake manifold question

my intake manifold is cool to the touch everywhere except right next to the carb. each of the large channels to the engine are cool, but the area right next to the carb is hot, and the color of the paint on the manifold right there is turning brown... like heat burn brown.

Normal! It is an exhaust passage to warm the carb area.

so tomorrow will be the first day where i go out with EVERYTHING just right, i installed the new stainless valves and transom intake cooling system, and off i go. i will take some pic's and post them. my newly refined donzi is a reflection of all the great advice i have gotten here the last few months.
time to buy another one.
