Has anybody ever performed an accurate scale weight of a 1990's vintage Donzi 22'? Looking for weight or boat with BBC, Bravo drive, driver and 1/2 tank of fuel. I am guessing 3,800 to 3,900 pounds.

No - I don't think a Dodge Magnum is adequate....

Traded the Magnum in on a 3/4 ton MegaCab last year; must have been thinking about going bigger back then....LOL

I took mine to a grain scale. Almost empty of fuel on my trailer it was 4540 lbs.
Here is a pic of my trailer.

That's encouraging - several hundred pounds less that I thought with a steel trailer. I have been wanting to downsize my tow vehicle (3/4 ton Suburban) but was sure just what towing capacity I needed to target.

PS - 50 gallons of gas is about 310 pounds

I called Roadrunner and obtained their double axle steel trailer weight for a 22 Classic at 1,050#
So using the following I come up to a realistic weight of 3,850 pounds on the water with driver, fuel and a little gear.

4,540 Boat on trailer, no fuel
-1,040 pounds for trailer
+200 pounds for driver
+150 pounds for 1/2 tank of fuel
+50 pounds for stuff
Gives me a realistic weight of 3,850 pounds. Which means that if you put in 600 h.p. in a Classic 22, you have a certified rocketship.......or coffin, depending on your maturity and good judgement.

Thanks,

Don

Powerboat Mag. said 3,756 lbs. in 2001 for the 22-SE's. The SE's should be 100-200 pounds heavier then a regular 22C.

Donzi says 3,400 lbs. which I assume is dry weight.

Good work! Thanks!

I wonder what 600 hp would feel like in a 22? :wink::eek!:

PM Mr. X, AKA HP600SC. He has been there, done that, got grease on the T-shirt.

Putting a 600HP motor in a 22 Classic may have already negated the "good judgement" portion of your statement.

Catch's boat is probably about 600 HP.

In case anybody is curious, I am pretty comfortable that my 1997 Classic 18 weighs right in at 3,150 pounds on the water with a driver and 1/2 tank of fuel and a bravo drive.

Damn nice looking boat! I think we even have the exact same trailer. The only difference I can see, is I don't have the eyetalian windshield.:(

If Criterions count as a 22 classic I have over 600 ponies. Does this count. I have a deep trs drive and no shorty.

Yeah Grizz, you certainly have over 600 ponies and will take passengers past the 80mph mark. Thank God my wife loves speed!

Been a while, we were talking about and Barb asked if you had posted lately. I almost called you yesterday, but I was behind a pickup with a sign "Hang up the phone and drive", and decided to do it later.
