Chappy, why ? .

I believe they made their initial debut in '78 as an F-22 and then a 22. I thought we knew of older 22' CLASSICs than '81?

:bonk: Don't follow the 22's that well so I am probably wrong.

Did Donzi offer a 22 with that combing? Looks like a real nice boat!

The F-22 had the 16/18 forward entry BUT the Critter rear. This one has no Critter rear, BUT, the F-22 entry.

Yes, NOW, it does get interesting...and a quote from BillG...

In 1980 they made a model called the 22 2+3 along with the Criterion. I have the brochure. It did not have the raised engine hatch like the Criterion though.

This boat is an '81 and is a predecesor of the '83 molded in windshield (squared) coaming.

It was for sale 4 years ago with one of the same pics.

Made while the F-22 LOST its' rear raised area and yet kept it's forward design.

Actually I was wanting to buy this boat last year. I believe that the owner used to be a registry member. I liked everything about this boat, other than the hatch hole and cover for the spark arrestor. This is one of the early 22's with no windshield.

Now is not the time for me to buy this boat; or I would be all over this thing.

In 82/83 model year I believe they modified the mold to incorporate the windshield design to be reflected onto a similar raised portion of the deck that we all know now...

I have also "heard" that the reverse chines were added at this time to the 22 as well.

Lenny, I seem to recall that first Donzi started bolting on the winshield cowling support piece; then they added the support rail/cowling to the mold. But I could be mistaken.

In 82, they had a bolt on cowling for the windsheild.

the word was the first 22 popped was a Criterion then the f-22 then the 2+3, that boat has been for sale way back here with the same pictures perfect step up for the 16 or 18 owner who loves the feel of the wind at theri face :)

I posted this boat because I thought I read that 81 was the first year for the 22 2+3 classic. Critters and f-22's aside, I thought this was the first year for this model.

P.S. Plus I really enjoy reading Donzi historians posts that I hoped would follow!:)

Don, wasn't the boat we discussed blue/white and on the upper west coast??

this one looks like a deck color change maybe, it's looks too glossy for original gel in my pic's??

I really like those exhaust manifolds, whose are those??

Jim, I never told you about this one. Another registry member turned me onto this boat last year. You are correct about the Blue and White one with a SBC up in the Northwest that was for sale.
This boat was not for sale last year that I know of; just that it fit fairly close the ideal that I was looking for.

Critter was the first 22 hull, but this is not the first 22 hull...

I know it has come up here from years ago and
yes the 22 critter was not the first 22 hull but it was the first 22 hull based on the elongated classic hull:wink:

Ahhh, as far as I know it was. The "others" (GT/Hornet etc) did not share any of this. The F-22 and Critter were the first 22's as I remember.

That's a Seven Meter,... not even close.

Not the same hull.

Nope.

Different Hull Designers, basically everything different.
The Seven Meter was NOT the same width, length etc and was designed by Allan Brown. (BROWINE) It also died out in 1972.

yes but it is the first 22 donzi produced

Lenny

Yes, but sold and advertised as a 23, and was 22' 11 5/8" long with an 8' beam.
not a 22.
That is the 1967 Catalogue I believe you have posted. the Attic is too far away.
:bonk:

Lenny

Here is where that came from, 1967, but the ad was short lived and soon after changed to be 23' and/or 7 Meter.
