I try to get out at least one day every weekend. But, its so hot right now that the night excursions have been much better. Not sure on the spelling but "Finnagins" on the Miami river is a fun sports bar type place to cruise to. Or Bayside to see the Hooter girls!!

haha, i love that hooters, but hate that area, its all idle zones unless you head south near Marine Stadium and out towards the cut and around to miami beach, thats a fun run, but the north side near downtown is about 30 minutes of idling, i hate it

I didn't know this until recently, and I have no idea how the ramp is, but there's a ramp right next to the marina on the north-east end of the Venetian Causeway. Island View Park. This sat image is old, so I'd do a drive-by before taking the boat there...but I saw somebody launching from there a couple weeks ago...

The ramp by Parrot Jungle is a county ramp..I think...

Hmmm...a Friday "happy hour" raft-up at Finnigans would be cool

I avoid that area like the plague. i also ALWAYS run the east channel of the ICW (Meloy Channel), where we crossed paths a couple weeks ago. I haven't taken that "shortcut" from that little turning basin south to Rickenbacker yet; still worried about depth. I guess if I just haul @ss on plane, I'm drawing that much less water :crossfing: Maybe one of these days I can follow some of you guys...
Also just FYI, you can jump on plane in the ICW north of the Rickenbacker until you get close to Brickell Key (1000' "technically"). so many people idle the whole way, but you're legit to run for that 30-sec hop...

MP, could you share a nav tip? Do you just run straight from the causeway to the closest point in that turning basin? I'm in a Formula 311...

your good there as long as you avoid trying to cut across the center....which would then cause something really bad to happen, haha! but as long as you stick about 300 ft from shore, your good til you reach the port and head south to the cut, by the way meloy channel is where i head to when i take my mentioned "Fun Run", i really like that area, and it does'nt seem as busy as the complete biscayne bay......

Oh, and Mad, about that issue of the 18 vs the 22 in choppy water, i gotta record a video to prove ya wrong  lol

Hey MP, just wanted to thank you for the vote of confidence so to speak. I was out there Saturday on my dad's boat. We didn't go across but as we cruised by I got to watch a bunch of people cross. One guy in a family cruiser went through at about the worst angle possible...part throttle but not on plane...we could see him straining on his toes to see over the bow...dumb@ss for sure but if he made it across at low tide, I'll be using that channel from here on out.

Also saw a white/red stripe 22C headed east near Fisher Island as we were headed west...
