?? on volvo drives

Does anyone know if parts from a volvo 270 are interchangable with a volvo 250 (I.E. the lower units??)

My understanding is that the 270 lower will fit and work on a 250 drive but I have not done it. Be sure to get the correct gear ratio. The gear ratio is determined in the lower and many of the used drives available are from 4 cylinder boats that have a higher reduction ratio gear set.

I have done it and also swapped gears too. I have also put a 290 on a 270 top and the other way around I also have I bstalled a duo-prop on both

I used a lower 250 and bolted onto my 270. Used for the whole season....no problem. Keep in mind the different gear ratios; which is why I had to do this when I realized a D unit was for a 4 cyl.

You will need the "B" type lower with a 1.61 gear ratio for your V8.
