Whats goin on everyone

I know this is not really a performace related question but does anyone know if you can install the seperate throttle and shift controls in the 16 and 18 classic? I know its possible but will there be enough clearace for the seats and what not? I also know that they are putting them in the shelby edition 22s but I think they have a little different seating configuration. If anyone knows anything please let me know.

thanks

is it more for the look, or is that how you like it set up? If it's for the look, Livorsi just came out with a new side mounted shifter that looks awesome.

I think they are $800 or so...

I think the livorsi side mount is $400 or so

Dana is $780. Livorsi is $400.

I'm swapping from the Livorsi to the Dana unit because the livorsi unit doesn't have enough friction to hold position with the whipple blower. The whipple has a STRONG return spring on it. It worked great on my carb though. It'll be in the for sale section next week. Start saving your pennies for a pretty red Livorsi throttle that's been used for 5 boat rides.

The dana has adjustable friction on it.

I am going with the In Control setup.

Looks a little modern but the feel and machining are top notch.

Will post some pictures of the install in the next week.

$ 870 with built in trim switch.
Here's a couple of picts. This is with the mock up mounting plate.
The real one is carbon fiber look (black fiberglass) to match the dash.
Had to cut out a square from the interior shell as there is no way to
get to the back of the shifter in the 22c.

Damn! I see some of the prices on the single controls, and I see what a good deal I got on the twin Gaffrigs I bought for my Formula a couple years ago. Brand new, powdercoated yellow for about $550 as I recall. I for the life of me can't see how they can possibly justify some of the prices I've been seeing.:eek!:

Zimm, let me know how the Dana works out. I've been eyeing up that unit for a couple weeks now.

Will do. I'll post pics of the install. I saw a dana throttle in person on a buddies boat. He also had a livorsi throttle and they couldn't get it to work (the installer didn't know you needed the extra linkages to hook to merc cables). They upgraded to the dana and he loved it.

It has finally gotten cool around here (less then 100) so I got the shifter in.

My God! You guys paid more for your shifter then I did for my boat. Talk about http://www.charminglayouts.net/images/graphics/glitter/blingbling.gif.
I'm jealous.

Well the Dana is bad ass. The best part is the cutout is big enough to actually pull the throttle and shifter cables through the hole and set it up in your lap. The Livorsi unit makes you reach back behind the dash and hook it all up.

Adjustable friction too- very nice with a blower.

I'll have pics when I can remember to take them.

The cutout is great.

Getting the old Quicksilver out was a major pain.
Unbolt, let it drop to the bottom and drag it out by the cables. I would
have hated to have to put it back !!!

Nice looking installation. I agree with the comments on the Livorsi...
I put the Livorsi in my 22 this summer and while it looks good, I must say that its performance is not that impressive to me. I don't particularly like the fast idle method they use which involves pulling the handle toward the interior of the boat. And at WOT, the ergonomics with the position of the handle are less than ideal. I'm strongly considering going to a 2 handle system like this for next year. The In-Control one looks nice and clean, I'd rather not mount an external mounting pod. Justleft, how is the feel of it when driving?

It hooked up to the current cables without any problem. Only had to
adjust the throttle cable at idle. Plan to put new cables in over the winter,
now that I can get at both ends.

Only had the boat out yesterday for a short while. Shift is right on. Throttle
has no problems against the normal sized return spring. Feels about right.
Really like being able to set the position of the trim switch. I have it so at idle
forward for in/ back for out, at wot out is up.
