...but man does this thing get squirrelly with a nice side wind.
I had the 22 out on the Sacramento yesterday. On the run back down river in the afternoon, I had some pretty good wind on the starboard beam; probability around 15 mph with some gusts higher. Since the river at that point (steamboat slough) is pretty narrow, there wasn't enough fetch to build any real waves. After some jokers in a deck boat were messing with me in a no-wake zone, I decided I'd just air it out and disappear so I turned it up to just under 70 mph ... that's when I learned that gee, when there's not much boat in the water a little side wind really moves you around! When we got it back to the ramp, I asked my girlfriend 'so, did you feel the boat blowing around back there?' Her answer: YES! :eek!:
