I am continuing the process of straightening out this wiring in my '86
22c. What a mess. Next winter I think I will tear it all out and start over.

For instance, the radio didn't work. Someone ran a seperate ground back to battery. Good for preventing hmmm.
But, I found 6 splices (cheap barrel crimps) just behind the dash, the wire
changed colors 4 times (sometimes red was used, for ground !!!)

Now I am working on drive trim. The bad news is that niether trim sender
or trim limit switch (both located on drive) are connected to anything.
So I guess that means the trim up and trailer are jumpered somewhere.?.!?
I also suspect this was done because the trim limit switch is bad........

Question; Trim up switch should go through trim limit switch then to up solenoid. Trailer should go right to up solenoid. Right ???

thanks

Thanks.

Trim switch shows open in all drive positions.

I guess a previous owner bypassed it because of switch failure.

Have to contact previous owner to make sure.

One more thing to fix. Not nice to run the drive too high.

Most of those trim sender wires aren't connected to anything; because, the trim senders don't work for long. The only way to get a reading on your trim position is to buy a mechanical trim kit. In fact, when you get your trim sender working, report to the board how long it worked before it puked. Been there done that.......many times.

I'm not planning to fix the trim sender. Used to clean the ones on the
scarab every season start and they would never make it to fall. :bonk:

Just going to see if I can fix the trim limit switch.
