Hey guys, I'm new to this site but I figured someone out ther would probably have some help for me. I just purchased a 1972 baby 16 outboard with a 1996 merc 135. I took it out for the first time and had a very hard time getting it up on plane. when it finally got up I couldn't get it over 4000 rpm(after playing with the trim for about a 1/2 hour). It was doing 42 mph at 4000rpm(GPS). The motor seems fine(no hesitation, reved freely in neutral to 5600rpm). This is what I know: boat weighs 1150lbs, motor weighs 403lbs, motor is a 1996 merc 135, boat was very slow to get on plane and topped out at 42mph at 4000rpm. I DO NOT KNOW what prop is on there now(no markings at all). I am just looking for help to maybe get a starting point for a new prop(or maybe someone has a similar setup). Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks George

Thanks, Another guy I talked to said the same thing, try a 15x19p or a 14x21p laser or mirage.
