Hi All - Just wanted to drop a line - Picked up my not so new 1968 Sweet 16 or Ski Sporter Monday. Found the gem on craigslist for $200 bucks with the trailer! She's in very sad shape, neglected for 20+ years - peeling paint over the gel coat - No engine, interior, or bilge cover. She needs alot of work, but I think well worth it in the end. Pic below is the day I picked it up. Now waiting for the rain to stop to begin playing.

I have found some really great information on this site and will definitely be looking for some more as thing progress.

Thanks for all the welcomes. Had some time this weekend to pick and inspect a little. Unfortunately I can not say this boat is clean and untouched. It appears the deck has been off and a novice attacked it. There are wood strips screwed into the deck from the bottom and it appears most of the glass/coring is removed (that's the only positive). The top of the deck will need alot of work to reshape and clean up. The good thing is that the hull/ transom/ stringers are in really great shape.

Question for the group - does anyone re-enforce the stringers? They look really small to me. I would have expected to see a 2X8 but it appears to be 3/4" ply.

Wow! Pretty slick - did you reuse the twin turbo's? I may bug you sometime to see it in person if you don't mind. I'm located in Waterbury - CT. , I see your in Glastonbury. What year is this boat? I am in the planning processes now - but I know I will be pulling the deck - recoring, and reglassing. Not to mention new tank and stringer inspection etc...

When you pulled the deck for the recore - where'd you get the replacement material? Did you use balsa or other material? How did you support the outer deck from losing it's shape?
