At what technical point are you "offshore?"

A. At the point you pass beyond the shoreline
B. 100 ft past the shoreline
C. 100 meters past the shoreline
D. 1 mile off the shoreline
E. Out of site of the shoreline (over the horizon)

I have always considered offshore to be well out of sight of land, when we speak of offshore out by me we are talking 60-80 miles where the big fish run.

Mark,
If you look at a chart, there is a dotted line called the "demarcation line". It is pretty much drawn at the inlets.That determines if you are offshore or not. Look in the COLREGS for this info.

I always thought in sight was inshore. Past that was off shore.
