Outdrive s/n doesnt seem to flow with the year/hin.. Engine was a 285 originally...
Can you be more specific for those of us less educated in such matters. Is that 285 HP, CI, Ford, Chevy...

I thought the tour was of the lake,,, not the hotel.

Hey there Ronnie. My 72 18' is # C18-445, so you're right in the ballpark for the year. We like to look at pictures.

Looks to me as though Maddad has an SP (290) on the back of his. Tilt and trim if that is the case... :)

Lenny, that's a plain old set it and forget it 280. I could not imagine trim giving me any more enjoyment from that boat. It flies straight and level, and if it's porpoising I know I'm traveling slow.

Isn't a '72 with a volvo and a starboaard helm kind of a rarity???

how cool would that be a RARE donzi with a motor the right one ! ok more pics. yes my new project with all rest of the others. just haven fun !!
One thing you need to change the drive rotation to RH, with the stbd helm and a lefty prop it would be a handful.

look at the water pickup it is on the right too which means this was a right hand drive. look at the bell housing it has an external starter mount too. the orange paint would indicate a Chevy or a Chrysler. lets see the exhaust manifold inlets to pin point the engine.

I think Poodle's water pickup is on the left (port) and his Critter turns it to the right...
but, I could be mistaken..

Ronnie, although it is a bummer that the original engine is not there, that simply means you have a lot of leeway, unless you are going for a fully accurate restoration. If not, then the sky is the limit. Think of the possibilities......377 Scorp, blown 350, possibly a BBC, etc... Which way do you think you will go?
I agree with Randy looks like it used a belt driven pump similar to the merc hose is to short to make it to a crank driven pump, Volvo used orange on the chevy blocks. The drop cans on the exhaust is something I have not seen, the manifolds look to be welded not cast. We need more pics of the parts laid out!

The bolt pattern on the bellhousing and the valve cover laying the both look to me like SBC. There is also a oil pan there so it sohuld also tell what motor was in it.
The pan says pre 86 driver side oil stick two piece rear main, I would love to see the stuff all spread out!

hey guys the oil pan is after market not original. But I think the rest is ?

N ow this is way cool. It is a Chevy. I haven't seen these exhaust for 20 years. The exhaust is very restrictive and it is not a H&M part. I can't remember who made them.
The position of the oil stick is determined by the block not the pan, you may want to go one piece seal and grab another pan.
Looks like a Jabsco on a fabbed bracket along with Crusader nylon mounts.
