Greetings all, I have a problem with my trim controls on my "commander" panel trim control. It's the type that has all of the functions built into the throttle set-up. It acts as though it has a short in the system (it works sometimes but not all the time), however it always seems to come thru sooner or later. It is beginning to worry me a bit because I trailer the boat now and I don't want it to screw up at the the boat ramp. One thing I always notice is that it always works when the engine is running. Both the the trailer button and the trim seem to have the problem. Any insight from anyone would be helpful. Thanks, Chris Duval

It may be an intermittant ground problem and the extra current available w/the engine running overcomes the bad connection.
Check ALL the connections.

After checking wiring and grounds listen to see is if you hear a click back at the engine or not, if you do then very good chance the trouble is in the solinoids.

MOP, thanks for the insight as well. If it is the solenoid, where is it located?

P.S. it's an 86 Classic 22 2+3 330/TRS set up. Thanks for the help

I think you would have one of the standard merc style pump, if so the solenoids are mounted on the pump bracket.
