its been almost 1 year in the making many long nights and ALOT of trial and error adatping new parts to fit the old hull,

it all started with a bad impeller... then it went to tune up ad no compression on number 4... dropped valve seat, cracked combustion chamber and hole in piston.. so out comes the motor, rotten transom and broken motor mounts... off comes the drive and broken throttle shift cables rare their ugly head.. so at that point EVERYTHING was gutted.... total start over.... new gauges and dash board, new rigging, new harness, new motor, new stringers and transom, onlything salvaged was the drive..

by 9PM tomarrow if all goes right it will be again on the water... test fired the engine today.... dropped in the distributor at 15* initial.. engine cranked 2 full turns and fired settled into a very smooth 650 RPM idle

BLKDONZI (Adam Greenburg) out of the seattle area owns the hull and this restoration saves this classic tripple hatch from the dumpster and she nows meets ABYC standards for rigging, is fully retrofitted and ready for the next 40+ years of use.

many pictures to come upon water testing.

parts gone in to this project include

MSD pro billet distributor, 6A ignition modual
Ford Motorsports valve covers, oilpan,
Clevite 77 mains and rod berrings
sealed power pistons
total seal rings
fel pro marine gaskets
milodon oil pump
K+N 9" flame arrestor
Beede gauges
Morse controlls
remanufactured 2300 Marine holley carb

engine is a .040 over 351 W running larger barr marine replacement exhaust logs for the HM 289 that was originally in the boat prior to it being replaced by the previous owner.

with 76CC iron heads and factory dished pistons its a 87 octain friendly 8.1:1running 38* total timing with 22* initial full advance is at 2900RPM. allowing adam to fuel anywhere he pleases on puget sound or lake washington and not worry about any detonation issues, and if he likes later down the road he can swap in a set of ford motorsports 58CC heads and have a strong 9.5:1 sleeper

we retained the factory 2 barrel low rise manifold to increase low RPM torque for strong hole shots, increase fuel economy and reduce engine hieght to avoid cutting the center hatch to clear the K+N arrestor.

the hatches are also revived with modern layup and coring done by Hugh Hulman of Federal way washington owner of don Arronow's 27 Magnum
big thanks To Hugh hulman for saving the derteriorated balsa cored hatches.

all that is left is to hook up the stering to the helm.
wire up the 4 wires on the drive tilt motor, and detail the boat to remove all dirt and trimmings from the wiring harness.

tommarow will be a good day for Nicks Marine and Performance.

Sounds like a lot of effort was put in the job. Do you have any pictures?

38* of timing is on the high side towards detonation I think.
