I've got one of these puppies that was modified to hold an outboard using a transom bracket. Can someone tell me what these are rated for? I can't find any tags relating to horsepower in the boat.

Thanks!
Andrew

It was never given a HP rating for a outboard engine. It was built with a sterndrive. Sterndrive boats rarely have a HP rating on the boat ID tag.

We can't tell you what the bracket is rated for.

It did however at one time have a 3 Liter in-line 4 rated at 120-135 hp.

amazing... the one i have i bought used and already modified with an outboard transom bracket (i'll attach pics)... it's a mess right now, but should be in complete order by the time i'm done with it.
i'm thinking of replacing the outboard transom bracket with a jack plate:

and thinking of replacing the 90hp honda with a 225hp mercury promax with bullet-casing. the guy that i bought it from had a 250hp yama 2-stroke on it, which probably weighs twice as much as the promax. what do you think?

I think you need to do some MAJOR transom work before running with the "90 HP" again. Transom brackets put a lot of leverage/stress on transoms. Especially on a transom that was not meant to have one.

Yep, I'm realizing that I'm definitely going to have to reinforce the transom. The stress crack alone is enough to get me goin. The previous owners had a near 800lb engine sitting on that bracket. I've got a buddy of mine looking at it to get a game plan going. I'll post updates as we go along :) Thanks! :)
