I have a 1996 22 Classic w/ a 454. Replacing the Trim Master tabs as the company is going out of business. I am installing a set of Eddie Marine K-Plane style taps. I have seen K-Planes installed along the running edges of the transom as well as flat accross the transom. Any thoughts? Thanks
IMO The 22 does not need big tabs you may find they do more harm then good, many up here feel the do not need tabs. I have tabs on my 22 but only use them for balancing passenger weight or sea conditions 98%+ they are full up.

I agree with MOP the only time I like them is at a slow planing speed.
(My wifes favorite speed) Then the boat wants to run port side low.
I always wanted to see if the 22c liked the tabs mounted high,
horizontal and close to the drive. Like some of newer go-fasts.

Trim Masters are mounted about 1/2" above the hull bottom because their type of hinge will cause spray if mounted lower.
Any tab set should be mounted above the transoms edge, debatable just how much. On my 22 they are about 5/8" above the transom and about 1-1/4 above at the ram. If they are in the water flow at WOT they steal speed, do a search there have be a few good threads on the subject.
