Dad has had this boat since I was really young! Like probably since 1980 or so. He has had it sitting in a barn on our farm for 27 years. Since he sold his Donzi I finally convinced him we need to get it together.

It originally came with a straight 6 banger. We are repowering with a vortech 350 dynoed at 310hp with a late model alpha set-up. Should be a really nice addition to his "fleet".

Here are a few shots from tonight. We had to drop a motor in to see where we need to mount the front motor mounts. It is getting new seats and a good wet sand and buff!

Anybody know anything about these 20' moppies?

Neat boats. Unless you mount the transom plate higher than the original Bertam set up you will not be happy and will encounter a number of steering problems as well as not achieve a dececent WOT. Knowing what I do of the boats, I would strongly suggest "X" plus 1". Have fun :)

Thanks for the advice. I think we are going with the "x" where it is for now. If it is awful we will redo it over the winter.

You know anything about the fuel tanks on these? Is it made of fiberglass, or glass in steel/aluminum?

Fuel tank will be fiberglass V shaped in the belly. Probably in good shape unless it has seen any ethanol. If you want alot more info on these boats a go to
www.25bertram.com or

Lots of good info and advice there.
I have a 20' Bertram as well and am putting in a 320 HP volvo with duoprop drive and have not changed the "x". we'll know in two weeks how I did.
