1998-502 has gotten new alum heads and a bigger stick(cam)Also new oil cooler/filter, new water sep/filter.new valve covers.new hyd steering.newgimble stuff related to steering.Got my 28zx back on march 25 and have been bizzy breaking in the motor used $345.00 worth of high test over the weekend.:eek!:A couple of issues #1)cold water temps at speed?shows 130-150 deg. at idle or slow speeds then hit the throttle up on plane 100 deg. or all the way to the right. Was told not to worry about it.#2)did not gain any top-end speed?maybe a mile or two,but runs strong!Great punch I think that I need new prop.I go 5400rpm and put up a little spray, when I drop the trim I gain speed/lose rpm to 5200.This boat rides flat 1998 stepped-hull been blueprinted by art-lilly.So no hook!Throttle-up wants me to try a partial-cleaver prop that they make.I posted pictures at photo section here are a couple

Does that steering ram stick out behind your exhaust when you trim it up?

Truck what pitch are you running now at the 5400RPMs. I have some good stuff props that will probably work as good or better.

You should have picked up some good hp. It sounds like Griz probably has some mph for you.

Have you seen what Last Real Texan has gotten out of his 27ZX? Your boat will actually get up on the pad if you can get it north of 80.

Bill, I totally forgot to call you back. Was busy trying to swap boats and get mine back home. I told you that BIG GRIZZ would have something for you to try. If I were you I would try that FUSION that GRIZZ has. I'll give you a call in the am. Looks Good.

I thought it should be. The pics look misleading. I am having the exact same system put on my boat this week.
