The last time I put it on the GPS was 55mph. That was with the engine studdering from the restrictive flame arrestor. The new Gaffrig arrestor made all the diffference in the world. It now buries the speedo quickly in all conditions. I am thinking we are now around 57 or so. I am running a 21" prop that is pretty nicked up. It feels like it needs a 23" or maybe more. I have not run the engine on a dyno but seen a graph of the performer cam/manifold combo. I seem to remember the torque curve falling off around 4800.

The current setup is less than optimal as it could use a more agressive cam. We have backed off as we don't want too much cam when we install the blower. I am hoping for around 60 with a more optimal prop. I had to back off the dialing in for a while to pick up the pace on the 27ZX and the X-18 projects.

The fun to drive factor has increased tenfold. It has a much better sound and it is fun to hammer around 4,000 rpm. Before when you hit it at that speed the acceleration was ok. Now it has a strong push until 4,800 or so.
