I am hesitant to admit that I am just now getting around to changing the oil on the '87 z21 I bought a couple years ago.

My 18 has a hose fitting on the dipstick that I pump the old oil out of.

This 350 mag does not have that, it has the oil filter mounted up on the left exhaust manifold, but I don't see any way of changing the oil except to get at the oil pan drain plug, which would be very unpleasant at best.

Am I not seeing something here?

thanks, Matt

First start the engine and let warm up the oil...then remove the coil wire and remove the oil filter...put a drain pan where the oil filter is and crank the engine over and use the engines oil pump to pump the oil out,,gets all but a 1/2 a quart out...

OK. That won't hurt the bearings to turn over that many times without oil?

no they alreat have oil on the bearing serface,,,ive seen people do it that way by starting the engine and their boats are trouble free...the engine wont be running so theirs not that much of a load on the bearings.. when i do it i use a starter button..
