I had no idea they made .50 caliber pistols!!!!! Yup, it's a .50 calibur MAGNUM! Just think what Dirty Harry could do with one of these! S&W wanted to be able to once again say they made the world's most powerful handgun. Not counting some exotic single shot pistols that fire rifle cartridges. I had no idea it could take out big game like that though!

Did they kill another one, other than the one I posted below?

They have made 50 caliber pistols for many years now.

Anyone ever fire a .50 caliber handgun? It's got to be pretty hard to handle, especially for a boy.:lookaroun:

There's a bunch of AE 50s. Desert Eagle is the one most people may be thinking about here. But there are Browning 50 "handguns" also. Different Animal. Desert Eagles are easy to shoot, just like a 45 shooting machine gun rounds.. Barrett 50's you freaken hang on and get people behind you for the comp. blast. Not many of those were made....
There are 45/70 wheel guns also that will take Nito loads. It gets close to the Barrett.
By the by, 12 gauge is 73 cal. You can cast your own rounds and load them hot if the gun will take it. No antiques may apply.

Everyone eventually hates guns anyway....but for the few you want to keep.

The Barretts shoot a 50 cal. BMG (Browning Machine Gun - aka the 50 cals used by the military, fighter plans, attack crafts, etc.)

I shot a DE 50. It was not that bad really. If I spent a lot of time in Grizzly country I would have one. I thought the Ruger 44 mag had a way worse kick to it but it's auto vs revolver so kind of a bad comparison.

I agree. An auto soaks up some of the recoil when it slides back to pick up the next round. I've shot some 300 Corbons from my Colt Anaconda that got my attention. Most 240 grain standard ammo in a 44 doesn't bother me a bit.

I hope its not a hoax. I heard a Fox 'n Friends interview over the weekend of the kid and he sounded courteous and believable.

Turns out it was a feral hog, raised domestically, named Fred, that was bought four days from a farmer before it was killed in a 250 acre fenced portion of the hunt club. I wondered how a hog that large hadn't been found and killed before it got that big on a 2500 acre pay for hunt place. Someone would have killed way before he got that big.
The article.
