The EFI distributor I have doesn't have any markings on the cap- what's the terminal numbers? This is the later model distributor with a 4 prong and 2 prong connector going in the front.

Great website, but I didn't see a diagram of the cap with numbering for an EFI dist...

Are you looking for the numbers for the plug wires, or the small wires from the dist?

Yup I got the firing order- I just don't know which post on the cap is #1. Without that I'm screwed.

Pull #1 plug put your finger over the hole bump it over until it pops it will be very close to -0- on the balancer, look where the rotor is pointing then put the cap back on and follow the wiring order that will get you close enough to start.

It's already at #1 TDC. So it doesn't matter which way the rotor points- whatever it is when I stab it in- that'll be #1 and I go from there :propeller:

I'm used to having caps marked with the numbers, that's all.

My #1 is almost exactly where it shows in the diagram in that link which is point directly at the carb.

It can be at TDC and be 180* off. It has to be on the compression stroke, not the exhaust. Like Phil said, you can feel the compression with your finger over the plug hole. I'm not sure about your engine, but on mine the distributor will only go all the way in at the proper way, or at 180 off. When I swapped the old breaker dist for an electronic, I couldn't figure why it wouldn't run, until I remembered that TDC comes up twice on a four stroke engine.:bonk: Instead of reinstalling the distributor, I just changed the plug wires to 180 off.
