Eugene, I used to own a Bradley smoker and I used it a lot for a few years.
If you want to cold smoke things like cheese and oysters; then I would reccomend the Bradley.
If you want your meat red and white smoked like they do it in Texas, Kentucky, Missouri or Tennessee. Then I would ask farmer tx, Gero or Roadtrip SE for their advice.

After seeing your boats I think you are handy enough with tools to build your own. All you need are a fire box, smokebox, draft vents, chimney. Here are some examples.

Mark, nice artistic touch (Bling) in posing the Corona bottle on the smoker!

Eugene,
Have you checked out the forum section of the bradley website?

http://forum.bradleysmoker.com/index.php

They appear to be a pretty hard core group over there. I'm a Weber grill guy and have been thinkin about a smoker for awhile now. There are allot of options out there.

Unfortunately the shipping costs are the same as the cost of the smoker.

Eugene, I might get/order one in my truck while I drag back a 350 MAG MPI from Colorado. Yes, RTSE has one and YES, it COOKS :D

BELIEVE ME, it cooks... damn, I miss his place in Possum... :(

Anyways

If you want one, and my weight allows, are you interested in meeting me in Southern Oregon or Northern Cally ?

I might change plans a bit

TWO - (2) #212's and a 350 MAG MPI and some "bling" might work in something I would never want to drive 3000 miles,... BUT,... I am always in for a fun game :D

Let me know...

:) Lenny and the unknown, and unsuspecting, co-pilot... (Gerry)

I would be up for a road trip to meet with you.
Let me know when.
It's going to be a busy summer for me.

The only thing that concerns me about the Bradley electric smoker is that you are locked-in to buying their "hocky-puck" smoking discs from them.
On the same lines as the Bradley, the Masterbuilt electric smoker (http://www.masterbuilt.com/products_smokers.htm) uses regular ol' wood chips, and for the most part, it's got great reviews, but I'm just not sure how many years it's going to last.

That Lyfe Tyme sure looks good and I bet it will last forever. I would sure like to have one of those! I presently have a 13-year-old New Braunfels smoker at the house on Lake Eufaula that's served me well, but its fire box starting to rust-through in a few places, and for that reason, it is short for this world.

Eugene - Mark is right, just build yourself one, you for sure have the talent based on what you can do with boats. I've built about 50 in my time...always for others, and its not that hard. the only real issue is do you have access to welding equipment (which I currently don't).

24" main tube should do nicely and is pretty cheap at your neighborhood pipe supply company.

I do not have the skills necessary to weld.
I could easily design one and get someone to weld it though. The only thing I am afraid of is that if I design it, it going to cost 3x what I could buy one for. It seems to be the way things go for me.:bonk:

That is true, If I paid myself a decent wage for all that work it would have cost Mucho Dinero.
