Michael went out to the canyon a few days ago and caught a blue fin first of our season and also caught a 6lbs 9oz sea bass. The bass ended up being a record at a local offshore club, he told me they normally run about 2lbs around here seemed small. Do they come bigger in other areas.

Wow Phil, that's a helluva a sea bass. We used to catch them about 2 miles off the Jersey shore between Long Branch and Belmar...I could duct tape together any 2 that I've caught in a day, and Michael's fish still wins.

Any pics of that sea monster? you eat it yet? I'm not much of a seafood eater, but friends who are love those things.

I don't know if that's the same sea bass we catch around here, but that would be a HUGE sea bass. A two pounder is a biggun!

Joe I think it may be, Michael said the same thing 2lb was all he ever saw. They made a big deal off it at the club, he caught it the same day they picked their first blue fin. Have to ask how far off he was, they usually fish the canyon.
