Time to sell the 18 and move up to a 22ZX. What does it take to tow one? I've got a Mercury Moutaineer, 7200lbs tow capacity with a 5000lbs hitch.
Any problems? Anyone interesrted in an 18, anyone got a 22?

I've used that vehicle's sister, Explorer model with V8, same specs, to tow a horse trailer with one animal inside. Total load about 4500#. You shouldn't have any problems with the 22zx. Same price for your '85 18 as listed earlier?

I think Mountaineer's came with AWD ??

4.6 or 5.0 ?

3.73's ??

we had a '97 5.0 Exploder w/ 3.73's that towed our Four Winns pretty good, weak on brakes though, the rear discs are sized for a Pinto...

I use an '07 Yukon and an '07 Chevy 2500 Express van. Neither know the boat is even back there.

Buizilla, the trucks brand new, don't know it yet, yes it has AWD. I've been wondering how that will help on a slimey ramp, any experiance? The $$ on the 18 are negociable within reason, the trailer needs some work, but the boat is all there. Thanks

You Mercury Mountaineer will be AMPLE for towing the 22ZX. I tow my 22ZX with an '05 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4 with HEMI engine. I have the exact same tow rating. 22ZX on an aluminum trailer, dual axel, 4 whl disc brakes.
4x4 is ideal for slimey wet ramps.

I tow a 22ZX with a 454Mag with a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland with the 4.7L HO engine. It tows it "ok". The 22ZX 454Mag version is about 4300lbs dry.
