View Full Version : Standard Minx Performance?

My father owns a Minx and I have GPS'd it at 55mph on the dot. Is this normal performance? It is all original and in pretty good condition and I believe the owner before us took regular care of it as we have since we bought it a couple years ago. I ran SeaFoam through it last summer which seemed to help a bit and quite a bit of carbon came out. I know there are already a bunch of 350 performance threads, so I'm more curious of any steps that I can take to help "renew" the motor.

Thanks!

Probably 55-58 is all you can expect from the original 260 HP engine. If you're of the mind to change the engine, I'd go with a warmed over 383.

I get 53 to 55 with a painted bottom.
Original stock 260 with 600 hours.
Sounds about right...

I GPS-ed Ken Minxguy's boat it ran a solid 60 with Alpha SS and -0- engine mods, a warm 383 and an SS would make a nice strong package and maintain good ride and handling.

PhilLast spring my Minx ran 62 on the GPS in stickey water. Engine is a stock 350 MAG spinning a 23 cleaver. There was no change in top end with the S/S. The boat will run low 60's all day long.
