I just got this trailer to refinish and rebuild for my 18 classic.
The previous owner told me he had this trailer for his 18 classic.

Does anyone have their bunks set up this way?

When I set up this trailer, I had the bunks wider apart.

Mine looks similar to that. I'll try to post a pic this weekend.

This one looks a lot like my trailer. I'll try to post some pics of mine for reference as well.

Here's a couple of old pics. The bunks are kind of hard to see, but you can see the red mounts. The bunks are right on top of those mounts.

The rust through in that rear crossmember gives me concern. Are you sure that the rest of the steel isn't about to give it up like the rear? Looks iffy from the pics.

Only rear member is rusted.
Checked the entire trailer with a hammer and puch. Rear cross member has already beeen cut and re-welded with new steel.
The entire trailer is being sanblasted , primer and fill coated, all welds filleted and smoothed, and then painted and cleared.
The trailer will be better than new.

Ranman,
The boat is looking nice on the trailer!

Do you have a way of fogging the inside of the existing steel beams? You'll need to neutralize the existing corrosion or it will continue. That rear crossmember rusted from the inside out.

The inside of the beams will be sprayed with a neutralizer and sealer.
The person who is doing the trailer has been restoring rusty hot rods for 60 years and know what he's doing.
Thanks for the concern though.

Sounds like you've got it all under control.

I should have guessed. Your boat restorations are the best of the best and I'm sure your trailer restorations are too.

I look forward to seeing the finished product!!
