I found an AWESOME Donzi 22 ZX...It is in AWESOME CONDITION, everything looks brand new, who ever had it took amazing care of it. It has a 7.4l MPI engine....The only problem i see is that it has 412 hours...but it dont show...

SO do hours really matter? How much longer untill the engine needs rebuilt? And how much would a reubild cost using all forged internals (basically making it a 7.4l MAG)...Thanks guys!

If he kept it that nice than I would say the motor is just as nice. 400 hours isnt all that bad.

As far as the rebuild goes it depends how it runs and how you run it.

What year and what drive?

I imagine it will run a long time. The 7.4's don't take much of a beating. If it's been taken care of, I'd say it's not half worn out. I also imagine it has a Bravo 1 drive.

how much power can one of those handle (Bravo I) ? I was thinking eventually if it does need rebuilt, putting forged internals and putting a procharger on her...:cool!:

The dealer is asking 24900...Is that a fair price? or what should i go for? I also have two trades (At the price it is now it should be even trades)...Thanks

What year is it? The higher hours wouldn't scare me much. Someone who uses their boat a lot, probably takes good care of it. Nothing is worse for a boat than extended time sitting, imho.

its a 1999, and yes it has a trailer included in the price of 24900...

eh, i wouldnt worry about hours, my boat probably as over 1000 hours on the motor, its got some blow by, but still runs extremely strong, im sure its going to need a rebuild soon, but 400 hours on a well mainted boat is nothing, my dads boat has i think 700 some hours on his original 502efi's takes good care of them and they havent missed a beat

I got over 3000 hours with no rebuild out of my last merc until I sold it. Lots of blowby but still ran great. The 7.4L is a low performance motor and therefore can run a long time before needing a rebuild. Over 1000 hours probably, maybe 3000....

you asked about the drive

I wouldn't worry to much about that drive (bravo 1) with relation to building up your motor

Also 400 hours isn't bad for a 99
thats like 50 hrs per year

I would be disappointed to get that little useage out of my boat

Hours don't mean a lot, I have surveyed engines with 1200 and better that did just fine. I have also had engine with very low 100-200 that failed miserably, for the age of that boat the hours are well inline. No matter what the clock shows is is very important to do a decent engine inspection inclusive of an oil sample and a cylinder leak down test. A mechanical issue can spoil your fun and put a hole in your pocket.

Jump on it for $25k. I just refinanced my '99 and it booked at $30k. And that's just black and white text from the bank. I know it would sell for more if I had it surveyed.

I thought they didn't put the smoke plexi on the upper half of the windscreen until 2000. Everyone I talked to who has she smoked plexi says it does a good job of deflecting the wind over your head but I've never rode in one. Mine just intensifies the wind right at head level. If I stand up the wind is less.

Hours are relative to how they were put on. Hard running, wake jumping; ect is a lot different than idling and or loafing at 3,500 to 4000 rpm. Assuming the boat is going into it's 7th season it has averaged about 59 hours per season..........not bad per the national average. Spend a few bucks and have a qualified tech go over the mechanicals and then write the check:eek!:.

Good Luck

Bad news guys, someone has a hold on it...I talked to the dealer today...:garfield:

I swear i will never find a boat...

I want a Donzi, but would take a Baja...I am looking for one that is atleast 22-23' long (longer if possible) with atleast a 7.4l MPI (fuel injected only) preferably a MAG...

The only problem i have is that i need to trade in two boats...and most brokers dont do trades, and i cant find any that will...

I live in ohio but would travel a little, so if someone could help me find a boat i would really appriciate it!

O yeah the price range is up to around 30k...

All good responses...........I've always thought that 1,500 on a salt-water (well taken care of and flushed) engine is about right. If you use them more ofthen, you get manymore hours. There's some para-sail boats out on St. Pete Beach (my buddy is their mechanic) that have over 3,000 hours and still going strong; but, they use them every day.

I'm with CUDA, I'd be a lot more afraid of a boat that's not used, rather than one that is.

You know you got to probably replace the exhaust manifolds & gimbal bearing on any boat, after 300/400 hours or 3/4 years, whichever comes first; so, check out what that's going to cost you............then there is the starter, altenator and fresh water pump.............all part of owning a boat.

Looks like a nice one.

I found a 26ZX in Kentucky...its a 1999 with under 200hours...what would be a fair price with the trailer to offer?
