Not sure about the "A" most of the numbers are 7 digits no letters, are you getting it off the right front corner of the block or off the Merc tag?

The 6721661 is the Merc tag on the flywheel cover. The A527782 is stamped on the side of my TRS drive. What I'm after is any way to find out what internal components are. My engine is waiting at the shop for a rebuild. I want to start planning ahead of time what to change internally. I'm hoping he will tear it down soon.
Thanks

It's an 86 z-25. I knew it had a soft transom when I bought it and planned to do the resto work on it. WOW, it is alot to it. But it makes me feel better that all of the parts are being dis and reassembled. You really see 1st hand what shape it is in. I hope I don't put it all back together and something I missed needed to be fixed!

The Z boats are cool with good possibilities, what are you trying to achieve to an overall end?? Once you decide post some shots we all enjoy seeing a boat come together for the season!

I am taking the transom assembly off this weekend. Next week it goes to the glass guy to redo stringers and transom. In the meantime, the engine is in to be rebuilt. I know this boat isn't a speed rocket, so I'm just trying to squeeze as much HP out by changing cam, boring, etc. I am game to any suggestions. Of course the easiest, the upholstry, is all redone and ready to be installed after the dirty work is done. If only the other parts were that fast. MOP, couldn't make alot of sense out of the website, but thanks anyway.......BP

Do a separate post on a 454 build up, let the guys know just how much HP you expect to make. Quite a few have worked over 454's and will come up with tips on cams and head combos that will help with your thoughts.
