I was poking around looking at ignition systems and found the what looks to be an important fact below. I run stock Merc stuff but many of you have the Hi Tech stuff so I figured I would pass it on!

To prevent false triggering and possible
premature ignition failure, you must use
suppression type (carbon core, spiral core,
or radio suppression core) spark plug wire.

DO NOT USE SOLID CORE (COPPER
CORE OR STAINLESS STEEL CORE)
SPARK PLUG WIRE WITH ANY
ELECTRONIC IGNITION SYSTEM

i just went through this whel looking for the stuff for my ignition system and found that the Accel super stock wires are a radio suppression core, 8mm wire with lots of different layer for heat and damage protection, they only run abour $35 beans as well.

MOP:

I run stock Thunderbolt IV on a 1990 4.3l, but the boat has aftermarket stainless steel core wires. Is this likely to be a problem?

I don't think so but am not sure, I run 8mm carbon wires an IV pack with a 60,000 volt coil three seasons with very good results.
