I'm just sayin' every boat should have one, your spring line is your most important and the first line one should use to dock.

Spring Lines Rule!

Dre ,
I know you catch a lot of hell around here but it's funny you mention that.
Yesterday someone was going over (read: spying) the S T with me and were admiring the deck hardware. They were shocked to learn that the boat had NO cleats on it when I got it , just two lifting rings .
"You can't tie up a boat properly anywhere with 2 lifting rings" was what they said .... ( a pretty famous sail racer BTW )
I agree .

Yuppers, Us ol' sailers know how to rig a boat. A nice flush mount on the beam would be special.

No friggin' wit da riggin'

If your boat has no cleats, you can wear kevlar shorts and not be afraid.
I use whips, and hooks in the eyes, to keep everything in line.

And you would think when you buy a Ferrari, you should get a back seat.

I can't read his posts since he's on my iggy list, but I think cleats hurt the looks of a 22 Classic, even pop ups.

The reason Donzis don't have cleats is because your suppose to be driving then not tying them up to some old ratty looking dock!!! At my own dock I never tie up my boat, I just drive up and put it on the Hydrohoyst.

Fixed it for ya!

Both of these pictures should have never been posted on this site; in my opinion.

But as I have learned from my few years on this planet earth.

Opinions are like assholes; everybody has one.

As much as I hate to agree with DonCig, I feel he is correct on this point. The reason the spring line is the first to be attached is because boats don't have brakes and boaters can't drive so it keeps them from hitting the bow. However a seasoned boater can rig a spring line from a front cleat or lift ring and/or rear cleat and/or lift ring. The word seasoned means experienced, not necessarily old.

Yeah and you can tie a fender to your throttle but I rather not.

Does this mean I can empty my ignore list, since there is only one name on it?
