This year the host will be the Florida Yacht Club on the St. Johns River in Jacksonville, Florida. The FYC was the last checkpoint on last years' run. The Florida Yacht Club in Jacksonville is Florida's oldest continuous yacht club. The facilities are 5 Star for boaters and those who appreciate fine dining and quality surroundings. The Florida Yacht Club is host to several major boating events throughout the year, most of them being sailing regattas, including the recently held J24 Nationals.
The club house was built in the early 1900's and has recently has its historic and intricate ceiling woodwork meticulously and beautifully restored. FYC offers it's own private launch ramp capable of handling larger powerboats with ease, and superior docking facilities as well as ample (and secure) parking for visiting trailered boats and their tow vehicles (over 40 J24's were brought in from around the country and were launched and stored there - I think they will be able to handle us). Saturday evening will be a sit-down dinner in the club (resort evening dining attire) with a stunning view of the river and the city skyline. Awesome prizes, door prizes, auction items. Ah, yes. Just what the doctor (and your First Mate) ordered.
The Friday night party, Saturday morning breakfast, and Saturday night dinner and party will all be held at the FYC. Lunch will once again be at the Jacksonville Landing. All meals all included in the price.
Registration for this premier event will cost only $250 per boat, which includes all meals for the Captain and his First Mate. Additional Crew can be registered at $50 each.
I will be providing a list of hotels shortly. All will be located at the intersection of I-295 and US 17 in Jacksonville (Orange Park, FL). Out-of-towners are encouraged to make their own arrangements. You can safely leave your boat and trailer at the Florida Yacht Club (24 hour secruity).
Need encouragement? Last year, the top hand won a $10,000 Mercury Marine inflatable and outboard motor. Second place got a 60" flat screen TV. Awards went all the way to the 15th place.
SEADOG's and all those reading this post have right of first refusal for entry, which is always limited to 50 boats.
Contact me here, e-mail, or cell, and I will mail you a Captains package for registration.
Questions? Call me at (904) 534-9928 or post them here for all to share.
This is our 10th year for this event and 100% of the proceeds go to Angel Aid, a hospice for terminally ill children.
